Koforidua Technical University was established as a Polytechnic in 1997 in the Eastern Region of Ghana. Its status changed to a Technical University on 1st September 2016. Koforidua Technical University over the years has produced high-level career-focused and skilled manpower to support the country’s industrial growth.

The University currently boasts five (5) Faculties and one Institute with about eight thousand (8,000) students. They are:

1.            Faculty of Business and Management Studies (FBMS)

2.            Faculty of Applied Science and Technology (FAST)

3.            Faculty of Engineering (FOE)

4.            Faculty of Built and Natural Environment (FBNE)

5.            Faculty of Health and Allied Science (FHAS)

6.            Institute of Open and Distance Learning

The University offers Bachelor in Technology (BTech) programmes, Higher National Diploma (HND) programmes, and other Diploma and Certificate Courses in business, engineering, and science disciplines. This article will look at all the courses offered at Koforidua Technical University and their admission requirements.

Their admission requirement for SSSCE applicants is to pass (A-D) in three (3) core subjects namely English Language, Mathematics, and Integrated Science; and must possess three (3) passes (A-D) in relevant elective subjects. The cumulative aggregate must be 24 or better.

WASSCE Applicants must have credit passes (A1-C6) in three core subjects namely English Language, Mathematics, and Integrated Science; and must possess three (3) credit passes (A1-C6) in three relevant elective subjects.  The cumulative aggregate must be 36 or better.

GCE ‘O’ and ‘A’ Level Applicants must possess six (6) GCE ‘O’ Level passes including English Language, Mathematics and General Science plus three (3) GCE ‘A’ Level passes in the relevant courses.

Applicants with passes in Motor Vehicle Technicians II (MVT II) may also be considered for admission and will be enrolled at Level 200. Applicants with passes in Motor Vehicle Technicians III (MVT III) may also be considered for admission and will be enrolled at Level 300.

HND graduates with the requisite specialization will enroll at level 300. HND graduates with requisite specialization will enroll at level 200 (Mechatronics). Applicants with a University Diploma in the relevant subjects will enroll at level 300. Ordinary Technical Diploma (OTD) will enroll at level 200.

Technician Applicants must have at least Part II and III Technicians Certificate Holders in EET or Radio & Television or Telecommunication Technician plus English, Mathematics and Science or EET II or Radio & Television Technician II or Telecommunication Technician II with passes in English, Mathematics & Science at the SSSCE/WASSCE level.

Applicants with DBS Certificates must possess credit passes in Four (4) WASSCE subjects, including English Language and Mathematics. Holders of DBS Marketing DBS Purchasing and Supply and DBS Secretaryship may be enrolled at Level 200 on the respective BTech Programme.

Mature Applicants must be twenty-five (25) years old and must show proof of age with Birth Certificate and Ghana Card. Applicants must pass a written test in English Language, Mathematics and General Knowledge to be conducted by the Koforidua Technical University.

    1. Generally all universities do not accept D7 in any of the core subjects but sometimes they accept if there is low competition. So its best to verify from the school directly.

      Ghanaian Applicants are to make a payment of One Hundred and Eighty Ghana Cedis (GH¢180.00) for the Koforidua Technical University On-line Serial Numbers (OSN) E-Vouchers at any Republic Bank, Fidelity Bank, Ghana Commercial Bank (GCB), Agricultural Development Bank (ADB) and Universal Merchant Bank (UMB) branches throughout the country.
      Foreign Applicants can purchase E-Vouchers online at the cost of Fifty US Dollars ($50.00).
      Access the Online forms by visiting our online application portal at https://applyonline.ktu.edu.gh with the e-voucher.
      When completing the online forms, applicants must upload their passport-size photographs and result slips/certificates. Note: Photographs must be on a white background.
      Applicants awaiting results are eligible to apply.
      Online applications should be submitted not later than November 30, 2024.

      Applicants can only apply online via Koforidua Technical University’s online application portal.

  1. I need an orientation of the “Artificial intelligence and Robotics” since apart from the private universities you are the only ones doing it as well.
    How do we get access to the orientation, to be able to get more knowledge on the programs.
    If you suggest coming to the school to seek information, that won’t be possible I’m in Accra .

        1. Robotics is a branch of mechanical, electrical and electronic engineering, and computer science. It’s all about the design, construction, operation, and application of robots. It’s also the computer systems for their control, sensory feedback and information processing.

  2. Please I have buy the forms and am waiting for them to admit me but they were saying u have gone to strike so u are not admitting anyone for now, when u come back u will admit people
