  1. UNIVERSITY OF GHANA

The University of Ghana has four campuses: the Legon campus (main campus), the Korle-Bu campus, the Accra city campus, and the Distance Education campus. It is considered the oldest and largest university in Ghana.

UG campus covers an area of 99.3 hectares and is characterized by tropical compound buildings and long horizontal buildings with a colonial architectural style with a majority of the buildings having a gable roof with distinctive red clay roofing tiles. The campus landscape creates a distinctive visual identity and harmonizes with the campus-built environment. The campus is also characterized by its unique sculpture which also reflects the Ghanaian African Culture.

2. UNIVERSITY OF CAPE COAST

UCC has a Southern Campus close to the shores of the Atlantic Ocean, providing a daily comfortable sea breeze. The site sits on high ground above sea level providing a beautiful bird’s eye view of the ocean. The Northern Campus or New Site of the University of Cape Coast popularly referred to, as “Science” was established to meet the needs of the growing number of students admitted into the university, as the University increasingly became the destination of choice for a lot of high school graduates from across the country and beyond. Being a recently developed campus, the new site is home to everything new you would find on campus; good roads, shopping centers, and modern structures, among others.

Also located on the new site campus is the university garden, where flowers, ornamentals, shrubs, and trees have been planted with a carefully designed plan that creates a natural atmosphere for the leisure of both residents and visitors. The University’s Zoo, which houses a wide variety of animals, is also located here.

3. KWAME NKRUMAH UNIVERSITY OF SCIENCE AND TECHNOLOGY

KNUST is approximately seven square miles in area with a group of modernist architectural buildings such as the school of Engineering building; a tropical modern architecture which maximizes natural lighting and ventilation, and the Great Hall; an iconic building designed with a modernist architectural style mixed with colourful paintings on walls and staircases and the Unity and African Hall; two modern architectural landmark buildings. KNUST is the biggest university in the Ashanti region.

4. UNIVERSITY OF EDUCATION, WINNEBA

It is a multi-campus, multi-site university with six campuses, three at Winneba and one at Ajumako in the Central Region of Ghana, and the other two at Kumasi and Mampong respectively, both in the Ashanti Region.

The idiom “don’t judge a book by its cover” does not hold a place, when talking of the state-of-the-art conference facilities and administration blocks on the Winneba campus of the University of Education, Winneba. The University, as part of its efforts to meet the challenging task of serving its constituents well, has experienced a spin in infrastructural development over the years. 

The Winneba campus of the University, which is the main campus of UEW, has three main Administration Blocks. These buildings are modern ones aimed at enhancing as well as facilitating all areas of work in the University. The largest and biggest conference hall in the University is the Jophus Anamuah Mensah Conference Centre which has a seating capacity of 2500. The campus is characterized by lush green lawns, tree-lined avenues, and well-maintained gardens, creating a serene and conducive environment for learning.

The University has modern sporting facilities for lovers of sports. Sporting facilities on the UEW campus include a basketball court, Hockey Pitch, football Pitch, Badminton, and Table Tennis Court.

5. ASHESI UNIVERSITY

Ashesi is a private, not-for-profit, non-sectarian institution. Ashesi University, a multicultural institution for global learning, located on the serene Berekuso Hills in the Eastern Region of Ghana, possesses all the charm and intimacy of community that continues to draw the world to its doorsteps.

6. VALLEY VIEW UNIVERSITY

Valley View University is located at Oyibi, 31 km from the city of Accra, and 13 km from Adenta, a suburb of Accra.  The serene atmosphere and the hilly surroundings provide the necessary tranquil, conducive to serious academic work.  The vastness of the University land (335 acres) constitutes an important guarantee for future physical development.

7. CENTRAL UNIVERSITY

In January 2016, the University College received the long-awaited Presidential Charter to become an autonomous and a fully-fledged university as Central University. Central University has eight (8) faculties/schools and four campuses located at Miotso (permanent campus), Mataheko campus, Christ temple graduate school campus and Kumasi campus.

The main campus is located off the Accra-Aflao Road in a small town called Mitso in the Greater Accra Region. This consists of expanding number of structures on the 248-acre (1.00 km2) plot of land. It houses the new ‘face’ of CU. Miotso is 58.2 km away from Accra Central. This permanent campus accommodates the Central Business School, the School of Applied Sciences, the Faculty of Law and the faculty of art and social science. Also, the administration section of the University College is located there.

8. UNIVERSITY FOR DEVELOPMENT STUDIES

The University for Development Studies (UDS), Tamale was established in 1992 by the government of Ghana. It was set up as a multi-campus institution and is the fifth public university to be established in Ghana.

Just a few Kilometers away from the noise, hustle and bustle of Tamale, the fastest growing city in West Africa, lies the beautiful Central Campus of the premier University in Northern Ghana – the University for Development Studies.

This beautiful campus is known for its beautiful acacia trees, which blossom over the campus. Perhaps, the most picturesque location is the Central Administration Block. The architectural beauty boasts a tower, green vegetation, slate staircases, as well as a stunning view over the sprawling, immaculate lawns.

The University’s Central Campus has some stunning architectural masterpieces – the beaming white walls and red roofs of the Faculty of Education, School of Medicine, the University Library, School of Allied Health Sciences, Central Administration, Multipurpose Auditorium and the Sagnarigu Hall, blend well with the plants, trees and flowers giving the campus that enviable academic atmosphere.

9. THE UNIVERSITY OF MINES AND TECHNOLOGY

The University of Mines and Technology (UMaT) was established on 3rd November 1952. It is a public university located at Tarkwa in the Western Region of Ghana.

The University is situated approximately on a 1.39 square-kilometre campus of undulating land and pleasant surroundings, about 2 kilometres south of the town of Tarkwa. The campus presents a panorama of beautiful old as well as modern buildings interspersed with verdant lawns and tropical flora which provide a cool and refreshing atmosphere congenial to academic work. Within the short period of its existence, it has become an important centre for the training of engineers and technologists not only for Ghana but also for other African countries as well as other parts of the world.

UMaT has three halls of residence. They are the Chamber of Mines Hall, the Gold Refinery Hall and M. T. Kofi Hall (K.T. Hall). The Chamber of Mines Hall is located at the western end of the campus. The K.T. Hall is located adjacent to the Chamber of Mines Hall, while the Gold Refinery Hall is located on a highland at the northern outskirts of Tarkwa. Each Hall is equipped with a kitchen, dining hall and separate junior and senior common rooms. The Administration Block, the Library, the Faculty Buildings, and the Auditorium occupy the central portion of the grounds. 

10. ACADEMIC CITY UNIVERSITY COLLEGE

Academic City is a premium quality tertiary education institution in Africa with a state-of-the-art ultra-modern campus in Accra, Ghana. It was established in 2009 with a vision to be a world-class centre for learning, innovation, and entrepreneurship that nurtures future leaders. The campus spreads across 16 acres of land in Haatso, in Accra. Currently, the developed ultra-modern facilities being used by the ACity community covers 20,000 square meters while development projects are in earnest on the remaining 11 acres of land.

The university’s hostel spreads across 3,300 square meters and has 168 rooms. It has a beautiful outdoor space for rejuvenation and relaxation and a state-of-the-art engineering workshop equipped with high-tech machinery.
