The mission of the Ghana Scholarship Secretariat is to utilize Government Funds, GETFund, and donor support for the provision of scholarships to brilliant but needy students and qualified workers at a minimum access cost, for human resource development for the purpose of national growth and development.
Before applying for the scholarship, applicants are to take note of the following;

MODE OF APPLICATION
Application forms are downloaded from the Secretariat’s website (www.ghanascholarshipsecretariat.com) after a registration code is sent to the various institutions at the beginning of the academic year.
Duly completed application forms must be endorsed by the designated institutional authority and submitted through the Dean of Graduate School to the Scholarships Secretariat. This facility does not apply to sandwich, part-time, private/fee-paying students in public tertiary institutions.
The documents are vetted by the Secretariat to ensure conformity to eligibility criteria.

2. MTN Ghana Foundation Scholarship
The MTN Foundation is a Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) management structure for the MTN Group’s related initiatives across its 22 operations.
The MTN Ghana Foundation was established in 2007 as a single-purpose vehicle to drive all MTN’s CSR initiatives in the country. The Foundation currently has three focus areas – Health, Education, and Economic Empowerment. The Foundation is set up as a separate legal entity with its own independent Board of Directors and Patrons who oversee the operations of the Foundation. 4. TAG GHANA SCHOLARSHIP
Lancaster University Ghana (LUG) was launched in 2013 as a partnership between Lancaster University UK (LU), and Transnational Academic Group (TAG). Since its launch, LUG has awarded scholarships to deserving students, and in 2022 Transnational Academic Group launched a new scholarship Scheme, to award more generous scholarships to assist you on your university journey and support students from all backgrounds.
Prospective Students are eligible for and encouraged to apply for the TAG Ghana scholarship based on Academic merit, Financial aid, and Change/Community service. You can apply for more than one type of scholarship but you will only be granted one award.
Applicants to the university may apply for the TAG scholarship before or after receiving an offer from Lancaster University Ghana.

5. AKUA KUENYEHIA FOUNDATION SCHOLARSHIP
The Akua Kuenyehia Foundation (AKF) is a Ghana-based non-profit organization founded by the children of H.E Judge Akua Kuenyehia, first Vice-President of the International Criminal Court in The Hague, Netherlands, in her honour.
It is a private foundation committed to the development and empowerment, through formal education, of women in Ghana. The overarching purpose is to nurture and develop a passion for knowledge in Ghanaian girls, especially those from underprivileged backgrounds, and a zeal for service to society by enriching the lives of these young women through educational scholarships and mentorship programmes.

- Educational Scholarships
Providing educational scholarships to underprivileged girls is an integral part of its strategy. Each year, a number of girls are selected based on rigorous selection criteria: academic achievement, financial need, and leadership potential. The Akua Kuenyehia Foundation invites applications from girls who have completed either their junior high school education or their senior high school education and who would like to further their education. The Foundation provides merit-based scholarships to successful applicants.

6. BlueCrest UNIVERSITY SCHOLARSHIP
BlueCrest College is determined to provide support to the students who need and deserve financial aid. That’s why every year BlueCrest awards several scholarships to the students. All scholarships are awarded as a percentage reduction in the total fee as mentioned below. As a BlueCrest student, there is a possibility that you can be awarded scholarships to get high-quality learning, a hallmark of the BlueCrest, and you can complete a program by paying a fraction of the total fee or almost no fee. BlueCrest offers several scholarships, these are:
A. STRATEGIC/SOCIALLY RESPONSIBLE SCHOLARSHIPS
i. WOMEN IN IT SCHOLARSHIP
BlueCrest sees the need to increase the number of women with expertise in Information Technology in the region. This led to the launching of this scholarship package which offers a 40% reduction in the total first-year fees of all women admitted for the Bachelor’s Degree program (BSc. Information Technology), and a 20% discount for all women admitted to their Master’s in Information Technology (MSc. IT) program.
ii. NEED-BASED SCHOLARSHIP
A need-based scholarship is for students from financially weak families and communities. The range of scholarships ranges from 10% to a maximum of 50% of the total first-year fee. A proper set of legal and valid documents have to be submitted by the applicants to the registrar. Management is always free to investigate more about the eligibility of the candidate for the scholarship. Just being a member of a particular community does not automatically qualify a candidate for this scholarship.
B. SCHOLASTIC SCHOLARSHIPS
The scholarship is based on the grades/marks obtained by the student in the qualifying examinations or tests like WASSCE in SHS etc.
i. NCE-OES SCHOLARSHIPS
Based on the results of the National Competitive Examinations (NCE) conducted by the BlueCrest College in various Schools in the country between February to August every year. Similarly, an online test is also conducted for those who could not appear for NCE in the Schools. It is called Online Entrance Exam Scholarships. (OES). Students can get a 40% to 100% reduction in the total first-year fee based on the results of NCE/OES.
ii. MERIT BASED SCHOLARSHIPS
Based on the SHS results, students can get a 25 to 100% reduction in the total fee for the first year.
iii. PRESIDENTIAL/RECTORAL SCHOLARSHIPS
The scholarship is based on the recommendations from the partnered institutions, government bodies, NGOs or corporate organizations. Besides, BCC management will also identify potential students who have already achieved some success in a field of interest to BCC and offer scholarships to them. It is a 100% reduction in the first year’s total fee. The recipients have to contribute regularly to the College/Schools as ambassadors by helping BCC in promotions, marketing, branding, and similar activities in regular consultation with the assigned staff member of the College to continue receiving the scholarships. Regular reports of such activities may be needed by the management from the recipients and a satisfactory level of contribution is a must to continue the scholarship.
C. Scholarships for Existing Students
These scholarships are applicable for year 2 onwards. All students can apply for these scholarships based on the CGPA obtained in the program every year. A minimum of 3.4 out of 4 CGPA is required to obtain a reduction of 25 to 100% of the total annual fee. Other conditions may also apply like no misconduct, no backlogs, no issues found, and in some cases, interviews are also conducted. Every year many BlueCrest college students receive these scholarships.

7. EDUCATIONAL PATHWAYS INTERNATIONAL
EPI provides university scholarships for highly gifted students from families in Ghana who have great financial needs. The objective is to help develop the next generation of Ghana’s leaders and dynamic professionals.
EPI recognizes, supports, and empowers gifted young people from families in need in the country of Ghana through a comprehensive university scholarship program, enabling them to develop their talents and make a positive difference in their home country.
The EPI scholarship program identifies the best and the brightest from families of the greatest need and offers a university education in fields of study that are vital to Ghana’s future. Scholarship recipients attend well-reputed in-country universities, receive comprehensive counseling, guidance, and support, and promise to “give back” in ways that will help their country grow after graduation.
HOW TO APPLY
EPI offers university scholarships to Ghanaian students of great financial need who, on the basis of academic achievement, intelligence, personal recommendations, and other supporting materials, can be considered “gifted.”
EPI only accepts applications from students accepted and registered at the University of Ghana, Accra, Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology, Kumasi, or the University of Development Studies in Tamale. Prospective candidates are required to visit the Student Aid office at one of these universities at the start of the fall semester to see if they qualify.
Scholarships are highly competitive and require the submission of a formal application which includes written essays describing why the applicant feels he/she should be considered for the program and how upon graduation he/she will make a difference within his or her home country. 8. UNIVERSITY OF GHANA SCHOLARSHIPS
The University of Ghana offers several scholarships. These are:
- TOYOTA GHANA – SCHOOL OF ENGINEERING SCIENCES SCHOLARSHIP AWARD

How to Apply For UGBS / AXIS Pension Scholarship
You are required to read the eligibility page, complete an online form with all the supporting documentation and submit a hard copy from the preview of the completed application form with the two essays and all the attaching documents to the Students Financial Aid Office (SFAO). It is important that you respond fully to all the questions on the form that are applicable to you. You may be asked for additional information if corrections are needed or if any information/response on your application is not clear.

- SRC Yi Bi Boa Scholarship
The SRC Yi Bi Boa Scholarship is a program at the University of Ghana to help students who are smart but don’t have enough money. The SRC works with the Students Financial Aid Office (SFAO) to offer this scholarship every year. It’s for students at the University of Ghana who need financial help and are doing well in their studies
How to Apply
- Fill out an online form and send it with all the needed documents to the SFAO.
- Answer all the questions on the form completely.
- You might need to give more information if something is unclear or wrong.
If you’re shortlisted, you’ll have an interview. If you get the scholarship, the SFAO will tell you, and the money will go to your university account.
- UG Sponsorship for Level 100

9. MASTERCARD FOUNDATION SCHOLARS PROGRAM
The Mastercard Foundation Scholars Program at Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) in Ghana is a partnership between KNUST and the Mastercard Foundation (MCF) in Canada to train scholars over a 15-year period in Africa.
The Program gives priority to females, displaced persons, and persons with disability. The Scholars Program provides young people from economically disadvantaged communities who have demonstrated academic talent and leadership potential with access to quality and relevant education.
The Mastercard Foundation Scholars Program provides access to secondary and higher education for young people who are committed to giving back to their communities. Students receive financial support for fees, uniforms, books and supplies, transportation, accommodation, and stipends. Students receive support during their transition into secondary school, and university with mentoring, career counselling, internships, leadership development, and other life skills coaching.
Eligibility/Who can apply
- Applicants who have in their possession, a genuine and valid WASSCE or GBCE or ABCE or GCE O Level and A Level or their equivalent results from an accredited/recognized institution. Applicant’s results must not be more than five years old. NO AWAITING RESULTS candidate will be processed for the scholarship.
- The candidates must further meet KNUST’s Admission Requirements.

10. UCC StuFSO SCHOLARSHIP
The Student’s Financial Support Office of the University of Cape Coast (UCC), in line with the goals and policies of the University of Cape Coast, seeks to make quality tertiary education accessible to any individuals who might not have the financial means to support themselves up the academic ladder.
